        Globally Harmonized Systems

Around the world, Ecolab is partnering with customers and suppliers to implement the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS).

        Globally Harmonized Systems

The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) provides a common approach to classifying chemicals and communicating product-safety information. Since 2009, Ecolab has been planning and implementing GHS, incorporating the standard into the nearly 200,000 SDSs issued annually in approximately 66 different country-specific templates and 43 languages. While implementing GHS internally, we also partnered with customers in Europe and the United States to help them meet their product safety goals by the 2015 GHS implementation deadline.

        What is GHS?
GHS is a new global classification system for chemicals. It?is used to communicate hazards on product labels and safety data sheets (SDS, formerly known in some countries/regions as the material safety data sheet [MSDS]). It has been developed through the United Nations, and applies to products used in many countries and industries.
